Toh Tuck is just a residential town, based on Singapore’s west side. It lies to the north of Bukit Timah, east of Bukit Batok, and suburban parts south of Hillview. Through the 1940s and the 1980s, the bordering Hillview was an industrial area with facilities such as Castro Gas Organization, Previous Honda Engine Place, Daimler-Benz Period & Carriage, and Union Carbide.
Hume Avenue received their name in honor of founder and entrepreneur Walter Page1=46 Hume. He started the Australian based Hume Tube Company. But, the only real company that still stays in the area is Ford Generator Company. The majority of the early firms were demolished to pave the way in which for new residential property development.
Located just off Bukit Timah Slope, Hillview experienced an important military confrontation that had actually happened in Singapore during the Second World War. For British and Japanese alike, Bukit Timah was of great importance ergo fueling the war. In 1942 the English forces surrendered on Ford Motor Component grounds to the Japanese forces.

The introduction of a railway line in 1903 was a substantial step towards improving transport in the area. This also expected usage of different areas of Singapore. Very quickly, Bukit Timah has developed into a significant deal and market hub. The settlers gathered here creating a multifunctional residential suburb.
The area’s former Western plantations and facilities had given way to creating high-rise flats and industrial buildings. Bukit Timah was already a well known center of business prior to the 1970s. A nearby nowadays characteristics magnificent condominiums, terraces and bungalows which can make the location a high residential district.
